A rare Royal Doulton Elvis Presley prototype character jug sold for $2,100 at Lion and Unicorn’s Collectors Auction in Hollywood, Florida, on 14 December 2025. This unique jug features a detailed likeness of Elvis Presley, complete with his signature slicked-back hair. The handle is adorned with symbolic elements from Presley’s wide-ranging career, including a cowboy hat, film reel, boxing gloves, poker chips, and a football—highlighting his influence in music, film, sports, and American pop culture.

Crafted in England and finished with a vibrant luster glaze, the jug measures 7″L x 5.25″W x 7″H. The base carries the Royal Doulton backstamp along with a clear prototype marking that reads:
“PROTOTYPE ONLY. DO NOT USE FOR EATING OR SERVING FOOD. THIS IS AND REMAINS AT ALL TIMES THE PROPERTY OF THE ROYAL DOULTON COMPANY. NOT FOR SALE.”
As a prototype, this jug was never released for public sale, making it highly desirable among collectors of Royal Doulton character jugs and Elvis memorabilia. Prototypes like this are typically produced in very limited numbers, often for internal review or design approval, and rarely appear on the open market.

The $2,100 hammer price reflects strong interest in both celebrity-themed character jugs and unreleased Royal Doulton prototypes, particularly those tied to cultural icons like Elvis Presley. A previous Las Vegas Elvis Prototype Jug also sold for over $2,000 in January 2024.
